New Delhi, Feb 22: Indian Foreign Secretary Shashank on visit to Nepal for secretary-level talks between the two countries. Shashank will hold talks with his Nepalese counterpart Madhuraman Acharya on various bilateral issues and matters of mutual interests during his first four-day visit to the Himalayan kingdom, officials said.
Reports from Kathmandu quoted Nepalese Foreign Ministry spokesman Madan Kumar Bhattarai as saying that this is a regular meeting between the two countries during which bilateral relations and the issues of mutual concern will be discussed.
There is no specific agenda for the talks, he said, adding however, all the issues will be discussed during the meeting. The two officials will also discuss the extradition treaty, criminal activities on the Indo-Nepal border and political issues during the meeting. The extradition treaty has not been finalised despite the meeting held in the past.
The recently-concluded home secretary level meeting between the two countries had decided to finalise the treaty at the earliest. Shashank will also call on Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa and Ambassador at large at the Foreign Ministry Bhekh Bahadur Thapa during his visit.
The last secretary level meeting between India and Nepal was held last year.
