New Delhi, Feb 03: Lt Gen. Mohinder Singh, a senior serving officer and Colonel in the Punjab Regiment, assumed charge as Adjutant General at the Army Headquarters here today. A recipient of PVSM and AVSM, Lt Gen. Mohinder Singh was General Officer Commanding (GOC), 4 corps before assuming his present assignment.
Born on October 20, 1945, he had his early education at the Khalsa College, Jalandhar and later joined the National Defence Academy in May 1962. He was commissioned into the Punjab regiment in 1966.

A graduate of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, Lt Gen. Mohinder singh has had held various prestigious command and staff appointments, including command of an infantry battalion of the Punjab regiment, a mountain brigade in the Kashmir Valley, an Infantry Division in the western sector and the counter insurgency force in Jammu and Kashmir. He was defence adviser at Lagos, Nigeria during 1990-94 and Deputy Master General of Ordnance at the Army Headquarters.

An avid sportsman, the Lt General excelled in hockey during his formative years.
