Chennai, May 21: Tamil Nadu government today issued orders to cancel punishment and withdraw disciplinary cases against government employees and teachers for participating in last year`s strike.

against government employees and teachers for participating in
last year's strike.
Chief Secretary to government Lakshmi Pranesh issued the
orders in compliance with Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's
announcement on May 18 to this effect withdrawing all punitive
action against employees.
The go said all orders imposing punishments of dismissal
and reduction in rank had already been modified as punishments
of stoppage of increment for four years and two years
respectively.
"Now all orders imposing punishments, compulsory retirement, stoppage of increment for one to four years with or without cumulative effect, censure, admonition or any other punishment, shall be treated as cancelled," it said.
All disciplinary cases, including FIRs filed against the employees and still pending, shall be treated as withdrawn with immediate effect, the Chief Secretary said.
A separate order was also issued by the Chief Secretary instructing appointing authorities for issue of orders of reinstatement in service and regulation of the period of absence from duty during the strike period.
