Mumbai, Mar 29: Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) has taken delivery of a crude oil tanker from Hyundai Heavy Industries Company Ltd. "Desh bhakt", which is first in the series of four double hull tankers ordered by SCI in June 2000, has a deadweight of about 1,10,000 tonnes (DWT) at the design draft of 15.5 metres, SCI said in a release here today.
The tanker can carry about 1,30,700 cubic meters of crude oil, it said adding, the other three tankers would join the fleet by August 2003.
SCI's present fleet now stands at 87 vessels aggregating about 4.35 million DWT comprising general cargo vessels, cellular vessels, crude oil tankers, passenger vessels and acid carriers.
