Shimla, Nov 13: The Lokmitra project of the Himachal Pradesh government has been conferred the exemplary e-governance initiative bronze award. The award would be given away at the 7th national e-governance conference, being organised jointly by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Government of India and government of Tamil Nadu, from November 13 to 15 this year.
The state government has implemented the pilot project of Lokmitra in Hamirpur district with the objective of providing IT-enabled government to the rural masses.
An intranet was set up in the district and 25 ‘Soochna Kendras’ were set up to provide various services ranging from simple downloading of forms, tenders, vacancies, filling of grievances and their redressal to notification of examination results, electoral rolls, advice on important issues etc, on payment of a nominal fee.
