New Delhi, Aug 11: Former Delhi Police Commissioner Nikhil Kumar, whose wife is a Congress MP from Bihar, today joined the party affirming his commitment to the ideals and leadership of the party.
Welcoming him, AICC general secretary R K Dhawan told reporters that Kumar's decision would strengthen the party in Bihar as well as at the national level.
Kumar's wife Shyama Sinha, sitting MP from Aurangabad and Bihar PCC president Ram Jatan Sinha were present at the AICC when Kumar met Dhawan.
Bihar PCC chief said Kumar's decision would help consolidate Rajput votes. "He is a soft spoken person with a clean image and high respectability" among all the sections of the society.
Kumar belongs to a leading political family of the state.

While his father Satyandra Narain Sinha served as chief minister of Bihar, grandfather Anugraha Narain Sinha, mother Kishori Devi, mother-in law Nadhuri Singh had been members of Parliament in the post independent India.
