New Delhi, Oct 14: Close on the heels of the Tamil Nadu government's controversial ban on religious conversion, the Buddhist society of India's Delhi branch claimed that over a thousand people voluntarily embraced Buddism here today. They embraced Buddhism at a function organised to commemorate the 46th anniversary of the "great Dhamma Diksha Mahotsava," it said in a press release.
The gathering also passed resolutions condemning Tamil Nadu government's ordinance banning forced conversions.
Among other things, it demanded handing over of the management and control of Mahabodhi Mahavihara of Bodh Gaya to Buddhists and telecasting the programmes of Buddha Dhamma to promote the principles of liberty, equality and fraternity. Bureau Report
