New Delhi, Aug 15: Taking the Opposition-sponsored no-confidence motion as a "challenge", deputy prime minister L K Advani today asserted it provided an "opportunity" to the government to project its achievements during the past four years.

"I am happy that the opposition has not only challenged us but also provided with an opportunity to project our achievements during the past four years," Advani told reporters after hoisting the national flag at his residence on the occasion of Independence Day.

Looking back at 56 years of independent India, he said the country had made progress in all the spheres of life but still the people have not worked to their potential.
"We have to overcome our shortcomings and should try to work hard for fulfiling the target of becoming a developed nation by 2030," the deputy prime minister said.
He also said the countrymen should have to contribute individually to see India as a developed country.

On a rain-fed day, after the celebrations, Advani distributed sweets to all the security personnel, mediamen, children and others.
