Chennai, Mar 12: The Madras High Court today gave some time to the Prasar Bharati (PB) to clarify on the issue of payment to Ten Sports for terrestrial rights of the historic Indo-Pak cricket series scheduled to begin tomorrow. A division bench, comprising Chief Justice B Subhashan Reddy and Justice M Thanickachalam, suggested some directives to Ten Sports to allow terrestrial broadcasting to PB.
However, it said that the PB would have to deposit money to compensate the Ten Sports for the commercials that would be telecast. The PB should also telecast the series with the logo of Ten Sports besides the channel's commercials. On the payment issue, additional solicitor General V T Gopalan sought time to clarify on the issue with PB and inform the court.
Yesterday, the court had reserved orders on two petitions seeking direction to confer PB with the telecast rights of the series.
The petitions had been filed by the citizen consumer and civic action group and Krishnasamy associates.
