Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee arrived in Washington on Thursday on the second leg of his crucial three-nation tour to discuss with US President George W Bush the on-going international campaign against terrorism and measures to strengthen bilateral relations. Vajpayee arrived in Washington from Moscow after summit-level discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
After a round of meetings with US Congress leaders and the Indian Caucus, the Prime Minister will call on President Bush at the White House on Friday.
The main objectives of the visit at the invitation of Bush, officials say, are consolidation of the international coalition against terrorism and steps to strengthen bilateral relations.
When asked by reporters at the Blair House, the Presidential guest house, whether he would meet Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf in New York, Vajpayee quipped "we can meet in Delhi".
