In a major breakthrough, Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police gunned down two top commanders of Pakistan-based Al-Badr outfit including its operational chief in an encounter in Jammu on Wednesday, police said.
The self-styled operational chief, Hafiz Ahsan Ali alias Nayeem' was killed along with divisional commander of the outfit, Syed Tulha Ahmad alias Tamjeed' at Chaterhama on the outskirts of Srinagar in the wee hours on Wednesday, they said.
The SOG, on specific information about the presence of two top Al-Badr commanders, raided the area late on Tuesday night. This sparked off an armed clash and the duo were killed.
While Ali was a resident of Peshawar, Tulha belonged to Karachi, they said describing their killing as a major blow' to the outfit in the valley in particular and militancy in general.
