New Delhi, Dec 01: An estimated 30 per cent voters cast ballot in assembly elections in Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh till 1 pm today, Election Commission sources said. Chhattisgarh reported about 32 per cent polling with urban areas recording 40 per cent and rural areas 25 per cent, they said.

In Rajasthan, between 25 and 30 per cent voters exercised their franchise, they said.

Madhya Pradesh registered 30 to 35 per cent polling and Delhi 20 to 25 per cent till 13oo hrs, they said.

Electronic voting machines were snatched in five booths before the commencement of balloting and poll staff was attacked in four stations in naxal-infested Dantewade and Kanker districts in Chhattisgarh, the sources said.

Eight polling parties, which were to be ferried to 17 booths in far-flung areas, could not reach because of dense fog, they said adding re-polling might take place there.

Balloting in Rajasthan was by and large peaceful barring some incidents, the sources said adding in Jaisalmer and Bharatpur districts, attempts were made to disturb the polling which was adjourned at two places.

In Madhya Pradesh, attempts were made to disturb polling in three booths, the sources said adding a supporter of a party damaged an EVM in Morena district after more than 172 votes were cast by some people.

Attempts were made to capture polling booths and damage EVMs in Dhar district also.

No major untoward incident was reported from Delhi, the sources said.
