Jaipur, June 29: Describing the new industrial investment policy finalised by the Ashok Gehlot government as a "poll gimmick," Rajasthan BJP chief Vasundhara Raje today said that no investment can come without a sound basic infrastructure which is lacking in the state. "Chief minister Ashok Gehlot is currently announcing sops at the fag end of his government's five year term but he would not succeed at the hustings,” Raje said in a statement here.

Claiming that leading multinational car manufacturing companies who showed interest in setting up units in Rajasthan left in a huff due to bureaucratic hurdles and negative attitude of the government, Raje asked, "Why Gehlot has woken up only after four-and-a-half years in office during which he pursued negative policies that discouraged investment."

Ridiculing the new single window clearance system for investors, she said that one cannot expect good response by asking them to fill up a 900-page form to avail the facility.
The new policy by the Gehlot government envisages Rs 100crore budgetary allocation every year for infrastructure development but the current budget does not have this provision, Raje claimed.
