Guwahati, Nov 30: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi assured an eleven-member delegation, comprising Samata Party members from Bihar and Assam, that all steps had been taken to protect the Bihari community in the state. The delegation, led by Upendra Kuswaha, met the Chief Minister at Janata Bhawan and discussed the prevailing situation in the state.
Gogoi told the delegation that the situation was returning to normalcy with no untoward incident reported from any part of the state during the last couple of days.
He said adequate security forces had been deployed in the vulnerable areas. Constant night patrolling was also being carried out by the forces.
He informed the delegation that district administration have been given all powers to deal with any untoward incident.
The Chief Minister also apprised them about the steps taken by the government to provide relief and rehabilitation to those affected in violence as well as compensation to the kin of those killed.
