Patna, Nov 05: Irked by the truancy of Magadh University Vice-Chancellor Abhimanyu Singh, Bihar Governor and Chancellor of Universities M Rama Jois has seized his powers until he shifts residence from the state capital to the University headquarters at Bodh Gaya. Raj Bhavan sources told reporters here today that under instruction from the governor, his Principal Secretary R J M Pillai has written to the Registrar of the University to take his orders from the Pro-Vice Chancellor until the VC shifts residence to Bodh Gaya.
The letter said it was incumbent upon the VC to function from the notified office and not from the capital.
"It is directed that until the VC shifts his residence from Patna to Bodh Gaya and begins to attend the notified office, the Pro-VC will discharge the duties of the VC," the letter said.
The sources said the Raj Bhavan order followed receipt of complaints about prolonged absence of Singh from the office as he was away in Patna most of the time.
