Bangalore, Nov 03: Senior Karnataka Congress leader S
Bangarappa today said he was ready to play a second innings as
Chief Minister if an opportunity came his way but he himself
would not attempt to get the post.
Speaking at a meet-the-press programme organised by the
Press Club of Bangalore here, he said he would not certainly
reject if the chief ministership came to him again. "Nobody
would reject an opportunity to have a meal in the moonlight."
Asked under whose leadership the next assembly elections in Karnataka would be fought by the party, he said he was in agreement with the statement of AICC general secretary Vayalar Ravi, in charge of party affairs in Karnataka, that it would be done under the "collective leadership" of Chief Minister S M Krishna, KPCC president Janardhan Poojary and other leaders.
The coming elections to assemblies would be contested under the leadership of Congress and its president Sonia Gandhi, he said.
Bangarappa said Krishna had done his best within his constraints in tackling various issues, including the drought situation, facing the state.
To a query, he said there was no need to hold simultaneous elections to Karnataka Assembly and Lok Sabha.
