The first of the Beijing tournaments will be in September 2004, and the city plans to build a new, 10,000-seat stadium for the event. Already confirmed to play at this early stage are Asia's highest-ever ranked player Paradorn Srichapan, former world number one Carlos Moya of Spain and former US Open champion Marat Safin of Russia. Safin has been plagued by wrist and ankle problems for most of 2003 and has missed most of ATP tour this year. "My injury is OK. I've seen a lot of doctors this year, I've been to like five doctors, nobody could take care of me. Finally I've found one guy in America and finally I'm healthy but unfortunately the year is finish. Basically, I'm preparing myself for the next year", Safin said.
