Manipur in the early hours today, official sources said.
The bomb planted by insurgents at Serou, 100 km from here, killed the BSF personnel who were patrolling the area.
Immediately after the blast, the two sides exchanged fire but the casualties on the side of the militants were not immediately known, the sources said.
The militants escaped to nearby thick jungles and hilly areas before the arrival of reinforcements, the sources added.
The area is considered to be a stronghold of Manipur People's Liberation Front.
