Aligarh, Oct 13: A senior member of Babri Masjid Action Committee today accused Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and Sangh Parivar of adopting a "confrontationist" posture and "vitiating" the atmosphere for a negotiated settlement of the Ayodhya dispute. "While on one hand, Advani talks of a negotiated settlement, on the other hand, he himself is vitiating the atmosphere by adopting a very confrontationist position on the entire matter," Javed Habib told reporters here.

He said, "whenever chances of a negotiated settlement appear bright, leaders of Sangh Parivar throw a spanner in the works by bringing in the issue of Mathura and Kashi temples."

Habib urged Advani not to adopt a "partisan posture" because he is the home minister of the country. He also asked the Deputy Prime Minister to disclose the name of the Muslim organization with whom he had reportedly claimed to have held parleys on Ayodhya issue.
Habib, who is also the national president of the Bharti Majlis, said a temple in Ayodhya can be constructed by ensuring that the honour and self respect of both the communities involved is protected.

"A Ram temple," Habib said, "can be a glorious landmark in the history of Indian civilization provided it commemorates the principles of justice and human brotherhood enshrined in the teachings of ram and help in projecting a true image of enlightened Hindusim."
