Mumbai, Sept 20: Producer Bobby Bedi’s production team can’t tire of praising Aamir Khan. Not just for the actor’s sincerity and involvement in their forthcoming enterprise, The Rising, starring himself, but also for his down-to-earth nature. It is not uncommon for Aamir to go to Bedi’s production office to discuss the script with director Ketan Mehta and the crew. At one such meeting, Amir felt hungry. When asked what he would like to have, Aamir announced, “Vada pav.”
For the uninitiated, vada pav is a potato pakoda stuffed in a loaf with chutney, and is one of the cheapest snacks available in Mumbai. Seeing the quizzical expressions on the faces of Bedi’s staff, Aamir explained, “We’ve grown up on vada pav. So what’s the big deal?” One can’t imagine any other actor ordering vada pav for a meal!
