New Delhi, Oct 31: The Delhi High Court today sought information by Monday from Election Commission on how much time it would take to remove the alleged discrepancies and irregularities in the revision of electoral rolls in a Delhi cantonment assembly constituency. Issuing notices to Election Commission, Chief Electoral Officer and electoral registration officer-cum SDM (Delhi Cantt), a bench comprising Chief Justice B C Patel and Justice A K Sikri said it has to be completed before the beginning of election process on November 14.

The bench gave this direction on an appeal filed against the order of a single bench order which had asked the respondents to expeditiously remove the discrepancies and irregularities in revision of electoral rolls in the Delhi cantonment assembly constituency. The petition filed by former BJP MLA Karan Singh Tanwar has sought the court's intervention to carry out revision of electoral rolls in his constituency without any discrimination and bias.

Senior advocate H S Phoolka, appearing for the petitioner alleged that due to malafide, arbitrary and bias approach of the respondents, the names of 7,000 eligible and genuine voters have not been included in the electoral rolls. The voters list instead included 12,068 bogus voters, he alleged. Alleging ineligible persons and outsiders were included in rolls, the petitioner submitted that the officials preparing the electoral rolls were biased against him and in such a situation there was apprehension of holding free and fair polls.
