In an unusual move, which comes against the backdrop of a string of electoral defeats suffered by the BJP and the Gujarat violence, party president K Jana Krishnamurthy has asked all members of the national executive who wish to speak at the Goa conclave next month to submit their views in writing.
In a letter sent out on March 26, a copy of which is in the possession of The Indian Express, Krishnamurthy has cited shortage of time and the large number of issues as the reason for this fiat. The Goa conclave is scheduled to begin on April 12 and end on April 14.

Strangely enough, however, he doesn’t want these notes to be handed over to him rightaway or even during the next few days. He wants these to be submitted in Goa personally to general secretary (organisation) Sanjay Joshi. ‘‘I assure you that I will go through each note and do what is needed,’’ he writes.
