A train rammed into a speeding truck at an unguarded railroad crossing in Gurdaspur district Punjab on Thursday, killing 12 people and injuring three others, police said. The accident occurred at around 10:30 am when the truck with 16 people on board was crossing the railroad track near Gurdaspur.
"This was an unguarded crossing. Twelve people died instantly, and the three injured are in hospital in Gurdaspur town," said Sukhdev Singh, superintendent of police at Gurdaspur.

The victims were all members of one family and were travelling to a nearby village to attend a funeral. Bureau Report
