New Delhi, Dec 02: Stating that the siezure of huge
quantity of foreign and Indian currencies in Nasik has wider
ramifications, Bjp today demanded that Maharasthra government
refer the Telgi stamp scam issue to the Centre which can
decide on the agency to probe into it.
"The recovery of large quantities of foreign and Indian
currency notes in Nasik reveals the larger ramifications of
this multicrore stamp scam and, therefore, the Maharasthra
government should hand over the probe to the Centre which can
decide on the appropriate agency like the CBI to investigate
the case," BJP spokesman Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told reporters
here.
He said alleged links of Abdul Karim Telgi, the prime accused in the scam, with anti-national elements and the recovery in Nasik only vindicated BJP's allegation.
"This scam is a cause of concern as it is a threat to the democratic set up of the country as also the economy and the national security," Naqvi said.
He appealed to all political parties to rise above ideologies and ensure that the investigations into the stamp paper scam is taken to its logical end and the culprits whoever they maybe are brought to book.
