Advocate Kanade in his petition has submitted that three states of Delhi, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh had sought a CBI probe in this case after the tendering of the report by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to the Bombay High Court recently.
The petitioner has contended in his petition that the SIT is an inquiry committee and could not be considered as an investigating agency.
The petitioner has further submitted that the CBI had proper infrastructure and, therefore, was the best agency to deal with such cases.
The petitioner has alleged that the Maharashtra government was trying to protect certain high ranking police officials as well as big politicians of the ruling coalition allegedly involved in the scam, because of which it (the government) was reluctant to hand over the investigations to an independent agency.
