`No Fly Zones` declared in RS
New Delhi, Dec 17: Rahstrapathi Bhavan and its surrounding areas, Tarapur nuclear plant, Aviation Research Centre - Bhubaneshwar, Delhi and Mathura oil refineries and the `Tower Of Silence` at the Malabar Hill at Mumbai had been declared as `No Fly Zones`, Rajya Sabha was informed today.
New Delhi, Dec 17: Rahstrapathi Bhavan and its
surrounding areas, Tarapur nuclear plant, Aviation Research
Centre - Bhubaneshwar, Delhi and Mathura oil refineries and
the 'Tower Of Silence' at the Malabar Hill at Mumbai had been
declared as "No Fly Zones", Rajya Sabha was informed today.
Minister of State for Civil Aviation Shripad Naik in a
written reply said state governments were coming with
proposals for declaring many other areas as no fly zones and
these were being considered keeping view of the security
considerations.
As part of measures to boost up airport security, Naik
said during the last three years 93 high quality x-ray
machines had been provided at various airports.
The minister said government was yet to finalise the
voluntary retirement schemes in Air India as well as Indian
Airlines, though 69 employees had been allowed to retire
voluntarily in AI and 87 in IA.
Tourism: while denying any instances of financial malpractices in the running of Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Smriti, Tourism Minister Jagmohan told the house a former CAG official had been appointed to exercise control over financial matters in these institutions. He said the financial expert would oversee proper utilization of government funds sanctioned for their upkeep.
