Srinagar, Aug 12: The Jammu and Kashmir government today said it will take drastic steps including revision of industrial incentive policy to revitalise the industrial sector in the state.
"Suitable modifications in the industrial incentive
policy would be made to make it more entrepreneur-friendly",
deputy chief minister Mangat Ram Sharma said addressing a
meeting of officials of industries department here today.
Sharma said the losses witnessed by the industrial sector during the past 12 years demand a comprehensive approach. He asked the principal secretary (industries) to formulate a proposal indicating the negative items to be excluded from the incentive cover. About disappearance of industrial units in the last one decade, Sharma asked the concerned officers to locate all the untraceable units and ascertain the benefits these had taken from the government incurring huge losses to the state exchequer.
"No person including private firms and NGOs will be allowed to go scot-free", Sharma said and called for a close check on NGOs that receive grants from the Centre on the recommendations of the state government.
