Three passengers received minor injuries when the Utkal Express braked suddenly to avert a collision with the derailed goods train between Lohra and Chandia road stations in Madhya Pradesh early this morning, according to railway sources in Katni in Madhya Pradesh.
Utkal Express applied the emergency brakes causing the engine and the luggage van to jump the track after it received a signal from the driver of the goods train that it had derailed and the up-line was blocked. The accident occurred in Katni section of Bilaspur division of the south eastern railway, according to a spokesman.
Twelve bogies of the goods train derailed earlier at 6:25 am.
