Melbourne, Nov 27: Sri Lankan off-spinner Muttiah
Muralitharan will miss the start of the Australian triangular
one-day cricket series following a hernia surgery.
Muralitharan underwent the operation in Melbourne
yesterday and is out for at least three weeks and possibly up
to six weeks.
Melbourne surgeon Peter Nottle, who operated on the
bowler, said most hernia patients took between three and six
weeks to "get back to work or full activity".
Sri Lanka's first tri-series match is against England in
Brisbane on December 17.
