Several Muslim organisations on Sunday staged protest demonstration at the venue of the emergency executive meeting of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) which is discussing a proposal to allow VHP to build a Ram temple at the undisputed land in Ayodhya in view of their abiding by a court verdict on the disputed site. Altogether three activists of the Islamic preaching centre, Urdu Taraqqi Centre and Bharatiya Majlis were taken away by security personnel when they sneaked into the meeting hall and raised slogans against the board members, saying they had no right to take a decision in this regard.
Outside the venue, several activists of the National Loktantrik Party led by former uttar pradesh minister Masood Ahmed, staged a protest saying any decision taken by the board in connection with the Babri Masjid would not be accepted by the Muslim community. Activists of the citizens for peace led by Wasim Qazi also staged a demonstration alleging that the board has fallen into a trap laid by the BJP-led government at the centre.
A large number of police and Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel were deployed outside the gates of the Jamia Hamdard Convention Centre, the venue of the meeting, to prevent any untoward incident. Over 50 members of the board's executive committee including the All India Babri Masjid Action Committee convenor Syed Shahabuddin and Babri Masjid Coordination Committee leader Zafaryab Jilani besides several special invitees attended the meeting.
