New Delhi, Feb 01: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) last night arrested income tax Deputy Director (investigations) Uma Shankar Dhayani on charges of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs three lakh from a businessman. CBI sources said Dhayani and two others, including a chartered accountant, was nabbed by the investigating agency sleuths while accepting the money from the complainant.

Accused Dhayani, a 1994 batch Indian Revenue Service officer, is posted at the Jhandewalan extension office of the income tax cell.

Dhayani had demanded Rs 30 lakh from the businessman to settle an income tax case.

He will be produced before a duty magistrate this afternoon.
