New Delhi, July 03: Congress today hit back at L K Advani for his criticism of Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh over the latter's action against his predecessor Parkash Singh Badal, asserting the Deputy Prime Minister's remarks were "improper and made under pressure" from the BJP ally. "Advani's criticism of Singh as chief minister is improper and he made the comments under unremitted political pressure from his partner Parkash Singh Badal,” Congress spokesman Jaipal Reddy told here.
"We would like to recall that Amarinder Singh levelled major charges of corruption against Badal and his family members even during election campaign,” Reddy said, adding apparently, the Punjab government has taken steps after collecting "concrete and adequate evidence" about disproportionate assets of Badal and his family.
Reddy said the Congress had no objection and would in fact expect an NDA team to see the reality for themselves about the assets of Badal's family and express their opinion publicly in an impartial manner.
Earlier in the day, Advani attacked the Amarinder Singh government on the vigilance department raids targeting Badal and his family members, saying it was "improper". Bureau Report
