Guwahati, Aug 08: The Opposition-sponsored no confidence motion against the Tarun Gogoi-led Congress ministry in Assam was defeated by voice vote in the state assembly today. After nearly two hours of debate on the motion brought by Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and BJP, the motion was put to vote by Speaker Prithvi Majhi and with Congress enjoying a majority in the House, the motion was defeated by voice vote. The no-trust motion was tabled by the opposition for alleged "lacklustre performance of the Congress government and its failure to provide corruption free administration". Bureau Report
