Agra, Mar 15: The Samajwadi Party today asked the Union Government a to adopt pro Iraq policy in the context of the US threat of an imminent attack on that country.
"India should declare that a war on Iraq would be regarded as a war on India," a resolution adopted at the three day convention of the party said here.
Addressing the convention, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav said that India should register its "strong" Opposition to such an attack.

Moving the resolution, Mohan Singh, senior party leader said that it was preposterous for the USA to demand that Iraq should throw all its Weapons of Mass Destruction into the sea.

"What would happen if India were asked to do so," he asked.
Yadav said that Samajwadi Party would launch an agitation against the policies of the UP government and the Centre for a complete overhaul of the economic and social system with a view to establishing social order based on equality and justice to all sections.

"The present order and government policies were heavily tilted in favour of the rich," he alleged.

He appealed to parties supporting the BJP at the Centre "to break away".
He said that all those who believed in secularism and socialism should lend support to the Samajwadi Party in its war against communalism a injustice and anti democratic forcesm.
