A former Haryana MLA and seven members of his family, including his wife and three grandchildren, were clubbed to death on Thursday night by some unidentified persons while they were asleep at their farm house in Litani village in Hisar, police said on Friday.
Besides the former MLA Relu Ram Punia, others killed were his wife Krishna, their daughter Priyanka, son Sunil and his wife and their three children, police said.

All the victims were done to death by iron rods and the bodies were found lying on their beds with blood splattered around. Punia's another daughter, Sonia, has been admitted to a hospital in a serious condition.
The killings came to notice after villagers grew suspicious when normal activities were not noticed this morning and opened the house only to find the bodies. Punia, who was elected to the state Assembly in 1996, had organised a birthday party in his farm house on Thursday night.
The police said the identity of the killers and the motive behind the gruesome killings was not immediately known. Senior superintendent of police Rajpal Singh and other officials have reached the spot. Bureau Report
