Rattled by the failure of its middle-order, the Indian team management has asked the cricket board to fly star batsman V V S Laxman straight away to join the team for the remaining matches of the Triseries currently on. “We have requested the cricket board to send Laxman as quickly as possible”, said team manager M K Bhargava on Friday.“He most probably will join the team before the match against Kenya at Paarl on October 24”, said Bhargava, an indication that the go-ahead has already been given on the subject by the board.
Laxman could not make it to the Indian team earlier on this tour because he had still not recovered fully from a knee operation. But his stupendous 148 not out for rest of India against Baroda in the Irani trophy has given right signals that everything is good with the ace middle order batsman. Bureau Report
