Mumbai, Mar 17: At 11,000 feet on the Jungfrau mountains of Switzerland, Sunny Deol just couldn't help wondering whether this was one big mistake. "There was little oxygen and all I could see was a whole range of crevices below," flashes back the macho man about his daredevil jump in The Hero. "I thought to myself -- if this cable snaps, I will be gone forever. Am I being stupid? What's going to happen? But then I did that jump thrice!" Action, you could say, is his middle name, though he can't remember doing anything as dangerous as this jump in a film whose tagline says "the love story of a spy." By the way, the last time he played a spy, the film went undercover at the box office. "Himmat was a bad film," admits Sunny, who thinks the best spy flick Bollywood ever made was the one his dad starred in. "Aankhen was a great film." And he ain't no fan of 007 either. "The James Bond films are full of senseless action. The only one that had any emotional element in it was The Spy Who Loved Me." But anger is one emotion that Sunny Deol expresses convincingly on the big screen. "Frankly, I don't get angry unless somebody rubs me the wrong way for no rhyme or reason," says the actor who delivers punches with as much conviction as Mike Tyson. "But I've got into fights, beaten up people and got beaten up myself. But the fact is anger is not so much about brute strength but emotional intensity. However, I guess there is a bit of me in all the characters I portray." In reality, he is a shy guy who is uncomfortable in a crowd of strangers. "My fear is about how people are going to behave. Once I see warmth around me, I relax. But people often ask me how can I act when I am so shy. The point is, it's my profession." And Sunny Deol is all set to reprise the role that first set him on the road of professional glory. "Dance choreographer Ahmed is making a film based on the character of Arjun Malvankar," he reveals. For the uninitiated, it's the character Sunny played in Arjun, one of the first hits in his career. "It's the story of Arjun, who's grown up, but is in some ways, still the same." In other words, Sunny Deol will lift his "dhai kilo ka haath" and push it into some baddie's face.
