Lucknow, June 14: Rejecting the opposition demand for convening a special session of the state assembly for a trial of strength, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today said her government enjoyed majority support and there was no need to seek confidence vote afresh. "There is no question to convene the Vidhan Sabha as demanded by the opposition. My government still enjoys majority support," she told reporters here.
Terming the opposition campaign to topple her government following withdrawal of support by 14-member RLD as "political gimmick,” Mayawati said if the opposition was confident of majority, it should give the list of MLAs supporting it to the governor to substantiate its claim. Bureau Report
