The core group of BALCO workers unions will meet today to come to a consensus over ending the employee strike. It is expected that the meeting will resolve differences between the two conflicting groups among the seven different unions.
One group wants to comply with the SC order of ending the strike while the other wants an ‘across the table’ discussions involving the state and the Centre.
Five trade unions had agreed to resume work but AITUC and CITU stuck to their decision to carry on with the strike.
The next meeting of the core committee will be on May 4 and it is expected that the issue will be resolved then.
