Jaipur, Nov 29: Party campaigners dispersed into constituencies for door-to-door canvassing for their candidate after noise and din of electioneering ended this evening in all the 200 assembly constituencies of Rajasthan where assembly polls will be held on December 01. Over 3.38 crore electorate would be deciding the fate of 1541 candidates by push of buttons of electronic voting machines for the first time in the desert state.
Election meetings and rallies continued till the last hour of electioneering that ended at 1700 hours with campaigners trying to organise as many public meetings as possible.
While the ruling Congress is contesting all the 200 seats its main rival BJP has set up candidates in 197 seats leaving three seats for Janata Dal (United), its NDA ally in the Vajpayee government.
As many as 124 BSP nominees are also in the fray along with 66 of social justice forum, 62 of Samajwadi Party, 58 of Nationalist Congress Party, 50 of Indian National Lok Dal, 18 of CPM and 15 of CPI besides others, including 556 independent.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, state chief of BJP and its chief ministerial candidate Vasundhara Raje Are the leading figures in the fray.
Meanwhile, polling parties have started moving out to man 35689 polling stations of which 8939 have been identified as sensitive or hypersensitive.
State administration has made all arrangements for free, fair and peaceful polling after almost trouble-free electioneering.
About 75,000 security personnel, including jawans of BSF, Rajasthan Armed Constabulary (RAC), railway protection force will be deployed on duty on the polling day. Special task force, are being deployed for the polling day.
More than 2500 mobile patrolling parties would also be keeping a close vigil on polling process. Bureau Report
