Lucknow, June 10: Virtually rejecting the Opposition's claim that the Mayawati government had been reduced to minority, Uttar Pradesh governor Vishnu Kant Shastri today said that the Opposition has so far not furnished any proof of its claim. "The Opposition has so far not put forward any proof before the Governor to enable him to prima facie conclude that the present government has been reduced to minority,” a Raj Bhavan communique said.
The combined opposition comprising the Samajwadi Party, Congress, Rashtriya Kranti Party and the Rashtriya Lok Dal have been demanding convening of a special assembly session for a fresh trial of strength of the Mayawati government claiming that it had been reduced to minority following withdrawal of support by the 14-member RLD.
