Leeds, Feb 11: Leeds have refuted claims Ugandan tycoon Michael Ezra is closing in on a £60million bid to take over the cash-strapped club.
Ezra, through Ugandan newspaper The New Vision, claims he has the money in place to come to Leeds' rescue, with the club just three days away from the latest `standstill' agreement deadline imposed by principal creditors.
Sports philanthropist Ezra, who helps fund Uganda's boxing team, is quoted as saying his 'board would also spend an extra £30million to strengthen the team.'
However, Ezra also states it is the make-up of the board which is proving difficult, adding that it 'doesn't have any Britons and Leeds don't find that acceptable', while it also 'lacks the technical expertise to bolster the club'.
Ezra claimed: 'Leeds know that I have £60million, while my board would also spend an extra £30million to strengthen the team.'

While Leeds are refusing to confirm or deny whether Ezra has been shown around Elland Road and their Thorp Arch training complex, they are insisting Ezra's comments are inaccurate.

However, it is believed talks have taken place between the two parties, although are at a very early stage.

The Yorkshire-based consortium, who have been involved in detailed negotiations regarding their own takeover for the last three weeks, would appear to remain the front-runners if a deal is to be concluded and administration avoided.
