Srinagar, Oct 10: With election trends indicating a success for anti-National Conference forces in Jammu and Kashmir, People`s Democratic Party president Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said it was "too early" to decide on the issue of chief ministership. "It is too early to say. After all results are declared, we will sit and decide the strategy," he said as the trends showed that Congress and PDP could get together to form a government in the 87-member assembly.
He said the priority of both Congress and PDP was to oust National Conference and "the more seats we get, it would be better as the new government would not be on tenterhooks".
Complimenting the Election Commission for doing a "commendable job", Sayeed said "In the history of Jammu and Kashmir, it is the first time that transparent, fair and impartial elections were held. I have no complaints."
Stating that the PDP`s first priority was to bring about "peace with dignity" in the militancy-torn state, he said that the party would "appeal and persuade" the central government and other parties to initiate "unconditional dialogue" with all sections, including militants, as was being held with Nagaland rebels.
He made a strong plea for a "big economic package" for the state and for employment to educated youth and stressed the need for good governance.
