Raipur, Oct 10: BJP general secretary Pramod Mahajan today said the party would finalise the list of its candidates for the forthcoming assembly polls to Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram, after Diwali.
"After Diwali, in the last week of October or first week of November, a meeting of Central Election Committee would be convened to finalise the names of candidates and in the first week the tickets for all the five states will be announced," he told reporters here today.
"We have asked all states to start finalising names and send them before October 31 to the central office. The date for meeting of CEC will be convened after consultation with the Prime Minister, after he arrives here on October 12," he said. The BJP general secretary said, all states have been asked to give more representation to women, youth and new faces but no percentage has been fixed for them.
However, 50 per cent of Chief Minister's post from the states going to polls, has been reserved for women, he said referring to Uma Bharti and Vasundhara Raje Scindia, the party's Chief Ministerial candidate for Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan respectively. Replying to a question, the senior leader said CBI filing chargesheets against BSP president Mayawati and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi will not have any swing on Dalit or tribal votes in favour of BJP, as the actions were not taken keeping their caste in mind.
