Kancheepuram (TN), June 15: DMK president M Karunanidhi today said "defeats and difficulties" were nothing new to his party and it had always bounced back.
"Though up against money power always," DMK was the genuine Dravidian party standing for the ideals of party founder "Anna" (C N Annadurai) and social reformer "Periyar" (E V Ramasamy), he told a public meeting here tonight.
"In contrast, the AIADMK government had made professional and other higher studies inaccessible to the poor and had contributed to all round price increase, hitting the common man," he charged. He said the present regime should be dethroned as it was “tyrannical, anti-poor and anti-farmer and weavers."
Earlier, an amount of Rs 18 lakh was handed over to Karunanidhi by party district office-bearers being an "advance part payment" towards the party's election fund. At a recent meeting of party district secretaries in Chennai, Karunanidhi had asked them to raise a total of Rs 25 crore as election fund. Bureau Report
