Patna, June 30: Bihar Congress today received a shot in arm with former MP and Samajwadi Janata Party leader Krishna Pratap Singh joining the party along with hundreds of supporters, a day after a senior Samata leader switched his loyalties to the Congress. Singh joined the party in the presence of AICC general secretary, in-charge of Congress affairs in Bihar, R K Dhawan and later took part in the padayatra led by state party chief Ram Jatan Sinha.
Singh had twice won the Siwan Lok Sabha seat in 1980 and 1984 on Congress ticket. Later he left the party to join former prime minister Chandra Shekhar' Samajwadi Janata Party.
Along with Singh, president of Bihar State Industrial Cooperative Association Sri Narayan Singh and other members of the association also joined Congress.
Welcoming the former MP and others within Congress fold, Dhawan said Congress was on its way to regain its past glory and support among people from cross section of society.
Former state law minister and Samata Party national committee member Deonath Prasad and over hundred leaders and workers of Samata Party, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Samajwadi Party joined Congress yesterday in the presence of Bihar unit chief Ram Jatan Sinha.
