Jaipur, Oct 14: Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee today alleged that the centre "was making fun of farmers" through a sloppy bajra procurement process and by completely neglecting the maize growers. After four years of consecutive drought, Rajasthan had seen bajra produce to the tune of 30 lakh tonnes, but the centre had announced the purchase of only one lakh tonne at the minimum support price; even that had not started, Congress state president Girija Vyas told reporters here.
The policy of bajra procurement was still not clear as the central government and the state BJP were making different claims on the MSP for damaged bajra, she said.
Neither adequate number of procurement centres had been opened up, nor any methodology had been devised to buy maize, she said.
She said the centre had mete out step motherly treatment to the congress ruled states, mainly Rajasthan.
Vyas said the four years of the NDA government were "flop years of governance" at the centre and the BJP government supported by allies had made great efforts at flaring up communalism, corruption, and terrorism.
Vajpayee government had proved to be the most insensitive, communal and corrupt government ever, she alleged.
The centre-state relations had been ruined and the internal and external security matters had been neglected, she said.
