Daler seeks exemption from appearance on health ground
Patiala, Oct 29: Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi on Wednesday sought exemption from appearing before Patiala police in the alleged human trafficking case on grounds of ill-health, police said.
Patiala, Oct 29: Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi on Wednesday sought exemption from appearing before Patiala police in the alleged human trafficking case on grounds of ill-health, police said.
Daler's lawyer RK Kanchan informed the police that the singer was not in a position to come due to ill health and also because he reached Delhi late last night after the second round of questioning by the Special Investigation Team which lasted for four hours, Deputy Inspector General of police, Patiala, PS Sahota told reporters.
"If Daler does not come tomorrow we will do whatever action is required to be taken," he said.
Daler was served a notice on Monday to appear before DIG Sahota for further questioning.
Sahota said that he was enquiring into the singer's allegation that the Patiala police had demanded Rs 1.50 crore to keep his name out of the case. His complaint to the IG, Patiala, Shashi Kant had been assigned to him for inquiry, the DIG said.
Daler had complained that DSP RPS Anand had demanded the money while SP (City) Kuldip Singh and SSP Paramraj Singh Umranangal were also involved. The statements of Anand and Kuldip Singh as also of some civilians had been recorded, Sahota said. Bureau Report
