Comaneci, of Romania, got the nod in an internet poll that registered more than 300,000 votes, USA Gymnastics announced yesterday.
Comaneci, 42, is in Anaheim with her husband and Olympic gold medallist, Bart Conner, attending the 2003 World Gymnastics Championships which wraps up on Sunday.
Comaneci's perfect 10, the first of seven in her superb career, garnered 63,692 votes. Runner-up was American Mary Lou Retton's five medal performance at the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympics.
