Earlier Al Jean, one of the original writers of the show, said in an interview with Variety "Homer and Marge legally separate, and Homer falls in love with his pharmacist, who's voiced by Lena Dunham," the Independent reported.

Confusion reigned after Al Jean clarified his comments on Twitter, saying that while what he said was correct, it was also completely misinterpreted.

However, in their first official statement after rumours were spread, Marge and Homer, sitting below a banner emblazoned with the words "together forever," make it clear that they have no intention of divorcing.
